General Agents and Managers Association of Hong Kong (GAMAHK) was initially established in 1994. To date, it is the sole professional association representing the interests of Life Insurance managers in Hong Kong. Our mission is to raise the standard of professionalism amongst life insurance managers in the areas of recruiting, training, coaching, and inspiring their subordinates. Over the years, GAMAHK has been dedicated to promoting professional trainings through offering comprehensive training courses and workshops to members, such endeavour to showcase the competency of Life Insurance managers and to push forward the development of industry, is well-received by our counterparts.

In addition, a large-scale convention and an award presentation were held annually by GAMAHK. By providing a platform for top-notch speakers and representatives to share their success stories and treasurable experiences with our members, and by honouring members with internationally recognised awards that highlight the remarkable advances made in the management quality of Hong Kong life insurance managers, GAMAHK wishes to facilitate alignments between the cultures of different life insurance companies, as well as incentives for expertise so to raise the professional standing of the insurance industry.

To uphold its principle of seeking best interests for the members and every individual insurance intermediary in general, GAMAHK has been establishing and maintaining close relationships with the key stakeholders on behalf of the industry, thus holding a strong position as the bridge connected to various governmental bodies and same-industry organizations. In terms of supervision and establishment of regulatory framework, it has been part of GAMAHK’s work to collect and collate the industry’s opinion on major issues direct to related governmental departments. We were honoured to be trusted and invited to join different committees led by official parties:

In 1999, GAMAHK was appointed by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) as a member of the Steering and Working Committee, as well as the Examination Sub-committee for the Insurance Intermediaries Quality Assurance Scheme (IIQAS), holding the responsibility of giving advice on the Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examination (IIQE) and continuing education projects; In 2017, we were invited to join the Future Task Force to work hand in hand with the Insurance Authority (IA) in exploring the future prospect of the insurance industry; In 2021, we were invited to join the Committee of Industry Consultative Networks (Insurance and Financial Services) under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB), rendering expert advice on employment prospect, market demand, training needs, design of existing courses, and the development of new courses that caters timely in view of market changes. With multiple positions there is only one goal of GAMAHK, which is to bring greater benefits to the insurance industry.
